Temporary "Error Establishing a Database Connection" – Reasons ?

  • Hi,

    Thanks in advance for any input on this issue !

    I get a temporary “Error Establishing a Database Connection” message everytime I go and approve queuing comments in my WordPress dashboard.

    The outage lasts for a few seconds before my website goes back live.

    1. I haven’t installed new plugins which could explain this
    2. I ran my website through Sucuri malware test which turned out negative

    I have contacted my hosting service but haven’t received a replied yet.

    I feel uncomfortable making any move on my WordPress considering these recurring errors.

    Any idea on what could be happening ? Should I worry ?

    Typically that just means that either the database server is going down or the connection is interrupted someone.

    I recommend noting the dates and times, and when you have at least 3 incidents, ask your hosting provider to compare those with the logs.
