Hi, I’m getting an intermittent authentication error when sending emails from my WordPress site using postSMTP. The failure appears random. Approximately 1 in 20 emails fails to send, but I do get an email notifying me of the error.
    The notification email is:

You getting this message because an error detected while delivered your email.
    For the domain: https://panza.org.nz
The log to paste when you open a support issue:
4.7.0 Temporary authentication failure: Connection lost to authentication server

My hosting (and email) provider is Hostinger (Premium Shared Hosting)

In postSMTP I’ve tried using different authentication types. Both Plain and Login work initially but both fail intermittently.

I suspect that this is an issue with Hostinger rather than postSMTP but I wonder if anyone has any experience with this issue and what I should be raising with Hostinger. Their help desk has not been helpful so far.

    Thanks,
    – Jerry

    Hi @jerrystewart99

    Hope you are doing good.

This issue is from the hosting side, Connection lost to authentication server mean your email server is not properly responding so you have to talk to your hosting support or change the hosting server then test it.

    Thanks

Same here with all my Hostinger accounts. Any solution of your Hostinger support? They say everything is fine

    Hi @caparros07

Before I go back to Hostinger again, can I ask if you are using postSMTP as your email plugin?
What is the frequency of fails are you getting?

    thanks, Jerry

Hostinger has been unable to solve my problem…

but I see that post SMTP now has a fallback (since v1.9.8)- the ability to set up a second delivery service if the first one fails. In my case the failures are irregular and the emails are generally non-critical, so I’ve set up the fallback service to be the same as the primary.

A big thank you to postSMTP for a very useful feature.
