• I need to revive a handful of posts that I’ve previously deleted from my site. The problem with this is when I replace them with new posts, they ping the RSS feed. This is annoying for my subscribers. Is there a way to temporarily disable RSS while I’m doing site repairs?

  • Are you using the same guid that they had before? RSS feeds use the guid to determine if the post has been seen before.

Ah, good question. I think not.

Is there any way to know what the guid was when the post has been deleted for some time? Is there a trail in the database?

And if there is, how can I manipulate the guid on a replacement post?

You can look in your database to see what is there. Deleted posts have a trash status unless you empty the trash (which deletes them from the database).
If your posts were all created on the same site, the guids will look similar. If you imported some posts, they will have the original site’s guid.
If you have an old backup, you might find the posts in there.
