I would like to temporarily remove some pages from my wordpress website while retaining the option to easily add them back later. What is the best way to do that. I will need to remove both parent & child pages.

    Thanks.

Edit each Page and change it’s publish status to Draft or Pending Review.

    No problem ??

Ooops! I spoke too soon. I changed the publish status to draft, then updated the pages. It didn’t seem to work. I visited my website, refreshed it, and the pages still appeared in the menus.

Am I missing a step or doing something wrong? When I went back to check, the pages are showing up as “Drafts” on my WP dashboard, but they’re still acting like they’re being published in final form. I feel like such a WP rookie.

BTW – The website in question is Trailsnet.com.

Is your site using a custom menu?

My site does have a custom trails menu, but I don’t believe the pages I want to delete are considered part of the custom menu.

Which Pages are we talking about?

I would like to temporarily (possibly permanently) remove the “Trailsnet Review” and “Trail Tours” pages as well as the child pages attached to those pages. If you look at the “Trails” and “Add a New Trail” pages and all child pages associated with those two, you might be able to tell that those were custom pages made just for Trailsnet.

However all the rest of the pages (including the “Trailsnet Review” and “Trail Tours” pages) were made using the normal WP theme template/process.

Those pages are all part of your custom menu & will have to be removed from the menu manually. Have a look in Appearance -> Menus.

Go to the admin panel click the appearance -> menu in the left side bar
In the menu page remove the page(Right side) that is your mentioned and save changes ..

    Hope this may help you

    Thanks for the suggestion, Vicky.

That was the first thing I tried, and I just tried it again, to see if it might have been a temporary glitch. But it still doesn’t work. I tried removing one of the pages by pulling down the “Page” menu, then clicked on the “Remove” link, then hit the save button. It then tries to access this url, https://trailsnet.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php, for a very long time, then I get a blank screen. When I reopen the website, the page I tried to Remove is still there.

Could it be a Safari issue or a Mac issue or something non-WP related?

    remove the cache
    ctrl+f5

what you using in the primary navigation ? In the Appearance->Menus of left side bar is anything or blank

Is this code is there in the header.php?

<?php /* Our navigation menu. If one isn't filled out, wp_nav_menu falls back to wp_page_menu. The menu assiged to the primary position is the one used. If none is assigned, the menu with the lowest ID is used. */ ?>

                    <?php wp_nav_menu( array( 'theme_location' => 'primary' ) ); ?>

    Vicky,

I tried the ctrl+f5, then I reset my browser (Safari), cleared history, closed all windows, quit & restarted. But I’m still having the same problems.

I don’t understand the stuff you wrote in your next two posts. Sorry.
