• Hello.

i have word press installed on a local server at home. When using at home everything looks OK but if I try and access it externally the template isn’t right. It’s almost as if it does not load the theme / css.

I have the server set up vie opening the relevant ports / services on my router and am using a dynamic DNS service but the same issue occurs when accessing the IP directly.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

    Thanks,

    David.

You’ll need to make sure you use an IP/URL from your dynamic DNS provider in WordPress settings. Make sure your CSS is linked for example, using a URL that is available from outside your network.
Example: Your site URL is set to https://mysite.dynamicdns.com but your CSS is being called at https://192.168.1.x then your CSS will fail to load from an external request.

Have a look at the source code in your browser on an external request and an internal one, and compare the content. That should help you track down exactly what’s missing.
