Template with custom field does not honor spaces in Before/After text

I have created a template that uses a custom field. When adding a space at the beginning or end of the before/after text, the space is not honored.

Examples:
The custom field value is the number 5. When I add “Rating: ” to the before text, the space at the end does not get saved. I end up with “Rating:5” instead of “Rating: 5″

The custom field value is the number 5. When I add ” Stars” to the after text, the space at the beginning does not get saved. I end up with “5Stars” instead of “5 Stars”
