Template tag

  • I want to add a template tag
    When I open the window it says the file is not editable.
    do I have to change the permissions on the file.
    If so what should the permissions be?

  • changing the premissions should do it, but I think it’s best to to add functions into the wp installation like that, you will end up losing them when you upgrade.
    your alternatives are:

    1. writing a plugin

    2. putting your custom functions in a file named functions.php inside your active theme’s directory

    I puloaded a plugin but it does not work. It seems that I read that I have to insert a tag to tell it where to go.

    That is what I wanted to know how to do.

    Can’t you just edit the template file on your computer and upload it?
    For me it seems simpler than
    1. making the file writable
    2. edit it
    3. setting the permissions back to not leave my site vulnerable
