    Hmmm, I might be answering my own question here – I’m thinking that if possible they should be network activated if I want to be able to update all Themes and Plugins for all sites at once, as a Super-Admin, as opposed to updating individual sites.

    There are different benefits to either approach and you might find that a combination works best. Are there plugins that you might not want active on specific sites? If you want the flexibility to disable some on a case by case basis then you’ll want to make sure those are not network activated.

    Otherwise, the clone site will exactly preserve the settings of the source / origin site, and naturally network activation will apply to all.
