    Hello!
The template options are not appearing on the home page. Not grid, front page, or full-width. What’s missing?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Hi there,

I installed the Edin theme on my test site and was able to see the page attribute options that you are describing: https://cloudup.com/c0tF9bU5Ur1

Are you trying to find the module itself or are you not seeing the options when you click on the template dropdown?

I’ve selected the option (I’ve tried all three) but nothing appears on the home page. I have also tried to set up the ‘front page feature page 1, 2, & 3, as well, but nothing appears on the home page.
    Thank you.

I checked out that link to the screenshot. Any of those selections fail to appear on the home page. Is there another setting in addition to this that I’m missing?
    Thanks for your help.

Just to make sure we are covering all of our bases, have you followed the directions to set up your home page from the Edin Theme page?:

I have gone through the instructions carefully. It seems like I can only have the feature pages (Step 5 in the instructions) or the grid pages -is that so, or can both be displayed? Also, with the grid template, only three appear even though six are assigned (step 6).

    Hi @nyklickova,

I’ve read through this thread and just wanted to ask a couple of questions, to make sure we have all bases covered ??

The template options are not appearing on the home page

Can you double check to see whether Page Attributes listed on the right of the page editor, under the cog icon?

Would you be able to make a screenshot of what you are seeing, upload it to a service like Snaggy and share a link? That way I can see exactly what is happening on your side.

Front Page and Grid Page templates use two different layouts and it’s only possible to select those for pages. If the front page is set to display your latest posts, it won’t be possible to select one of those templates and latest posts will be displayed in a traditional post format.

    Hello @gemmaevans.
Thank you for your assistance. Here is a screenshot of a page: https://snag.gy/PrL85l.jpg

So, I can only select the front page, full page width, or grid page, not both?
Either way, the grid page will only display 3 pages on the home page even though six are assigned under the page attributes.

    Hi @nyklickova,

    Thanks for the screenshot.

So, I can only select the front page, full page width, or grid page, not both?

Yes, that’s correct. Only one page template can be in used at a time.

Either way, the grid page will only display 3 pages on the home page even though six are assigned under the page attributes.

What We Do, Why We Do It and Where We Are are the 3 featured pages set in Customise > Theme Options — they are only displayed when the Front Page template is selected.

The Grid Page template works a little differently because it displays child pages (rather than the three featured pages above). I created a test page using this template and added 6 child pages. Each one was displayed when the Grid Page was selected.

Since it’s not possible to select the Front Page and Grid Page templates at the same time, you will need to choose one or the other.

The Grid Page template will need to be used to display all of the child pages.

I really appreciate your time, @gemmaevans.

Thank you for clearing up I cannot have both the front page and grid page selected. (by front page you mean of the option in the page attributes and not in the customize > theme options, right?)

I’m still stuck on only 3 pages appearing on the homepage when 6 have been assigned to grid pages. Are they a child page to a specific page?

    Hi,

A single page of Edin can’t have two templates, so it can’t have the front page template and the grid page template at the same time. Are you setting up a separate page for a grid, and if so can you send a link to that? Or, are you abandoning the front page template and using a grid instead?

I’m still stuck on only 3 pages appearing on the homepage when 6 have been assigned to grid pages. Are they a child page to a specific page?

I do want to clarify, the “parent” page is the only page that needs a grid template. The pages within the grid can have whatever template you’d like, but they all need to be set as children of the parent page. So for example, if you had these five pages with these settings:

    Services (has grid template)
    - A (child of Services, template does not matter)
    - B (child of Services, template does not matter)
    - C (child of Services, template does not matter)
    - D (child of Services, template does not matter)

you would see one page with A, B, C, and D on it when you click Services. Does this help?

    Got it!!
Thank you all for your time!
