Template on www.remarpro.com has German text in template

  • I recently changed my theme called Skyline-Grafixx on wordpress,org. It turns out some of the templates, not all, are in German specifically the text on the Page, Main Index and Comment.php are in German. So I wrote to the theme designer to enquire why and to request a fix and I got this reply:

    Hello Carla,

    Skyline-Grafixx is a German WordPressTheme ,
    thats why it is published in German.

    No matter to translate it for you into English ,
    it will be 15 Euro.

    My response is Huh???????????? Aren’t these themes free?

  • 1. There are no themes on www.remarpro.com.
    2. The theme IS free since you have downloaded from somewhere.
    3. Offering a free theme OR translating something are two different tasks.
    4. As a former official translator and interpreter I think monolingual people should always pay for services rendered by bilingual/polyglot professionals.
    5. Proceed? You either pay for the translation service (BTW, that’s quite a cheap price!) or you pick another theme.

    Thanks for your POV, always appreciated, but I am going to give kudos to Google for coming out with a FREE translating service, just cut and paste and I saved some $$. Thanks Google! https://www.google.com/translate. PS If you type in the url they’ll even translate the whole website. I’m feelin’ this. (note to self bookmark this page)
