Are there tutorials on how to use WP’s default templates? With each new one, there’s always hype about all the wonderful things you can do with it, but it’s never clear HOW to do those things. I really love the concept behind the new Twenty Fourteen, but I need to get a lot more out of it than I currently can. How do I learn how, and where?

Thanks for pointing me to the instructions, but I’m missing some steps. Went into Featured Content and changed Layout to “Grid,” but no luck getting a grid layout to actually appear. Can anyone help?

Did you do the rest of the steps:

To assign content to appear in the grid or slider, you should assign it the Featured tag. This will display your posts, displaying the featured image.

    There’s more in that post.

    1) Go into “Customize”
    2) Change Layout to “Grid”
    3) Click “Save & Publish”

Did all that. Clearly where I’m going wrong is with the use of the tag. How do I tag a post so that it appears in the grid? Do I tag it with the word “grid?” Or do I tag it in a different way? What do I put in the Tag box that enables Twenty Fourteen to find the post and place it in the grid?

Featured content in Twenty Fourteen Theme
To assign content to appear in the grid or slider, you should do the following:

    1) In Theme Customizer
1.1) Under *Featured Content* select your preferred layout from the drop down: Grid or Slider
1.2) Change the Featured Tag or leave it as “featured”

    2) In Post Editor Screen
2.1) you should assign your Post the Featured tag seted in Theme Customizer (default “featured”).
2.2) You should set a Featured image to your Post.

@wpfo…that did it. It all looks as it should now. Many thanks to you and WPyogi!
