Template Header size

I am using a basic form and I have uploaded a picture to use as its header. Unfortunately the header of the page is smaller than the rest of the body of the template, making it look out of shape. I have tried making the picture of the header larger but it doesn’t make any difference.
Is there any way I can get round this?
