I installed Pods – Custom Content Types and Fields and Pods Frontier Auto Template.
I created “books” (post) and “genre” (taxonomy).
I created a template (using Pods Frontier Auto Template) for books and another one for single book. It works fine.
Now, I am trying to create a template for “genre” so that when a user choose to see all the books in fiction category (genre), all the fiction books will be displayed using this template.
However, when I choose a template for “genre”, I get the error: “The Pods post type genre has an archive template set to be displayed using Pods auto template, but the Pod does not have an archive. You can enable post type archives in the “Advanced Options” tab.”
But the “Advanced Options” tab does not contain the “Enable archive” option for this taxonomy.

Could you please help with that?

You do not need the plugin ‘Pods Frontier Auto Template’ any longer and if you have installed it, you should deactivate and remove it as it can create some weirdness with your output. All the functionality of that plugin is now present in Pods since version 2.5.5.

We have an bug report to correct that particular ‘error message’ because it’s erroneous. Taxonomies are ‘always’ archive templates, it’s the only kind of template they do (since there’s no such thing as a single taxonomy record). It’s only a warning; it doesn’t actually prevent you from setting your Taxonomy Template.

You should be able to assign your Books archive template to the Genre Taxonomy and it’ll work properly filtering the list of books by the current genre.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to open a new support ticket at https://pods.io/forums/ or join us on our Slack Chat at https://pods.io/forums/chat/ and we’ll help you out.

    Thanks!
