I need/want to change the layout of my archive template.

On the server, I made a copy of the present archive template with the intention of making the changes using the visual editor. The edits seemed to be going OK but then it would not save – throwing an error message, ‘Saving Failed’.

Q1. Is this a WP ‘feature’, or more likely an environment issue? I have made lots of template edits before, but not to the Archive template, or only in relation to headers and footers, or reusable blocks.

I intended to split the query loop into two; one with a single result and the other with a multiple result grid display with an offset of 1, all using the existing archive settings. However, I see that when the existing template query settings are used, the control to set the number of displayed posts and the offset is not available. So,

Q2. Am I expecting too much for it to be this easy . . . and might this change in the future?

I am using blockpress theme with WP6.0.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I have just realised that I posted this in the wrong place. It was intended as a general WP 6 question. Sorry guys.
