I claimed my blog (janzeiger.com/blog) at Technorati.com and they gave me a code to put in my template.

I have searched and searched and have put it in a couple of difference places but the “technorati” button that’s supposed to show up on my blog hasn’t yet. I think I’m doing something wrong. ??

But you see, I’m new to wordpress and I don’t think I’m putting it in the right place. It said on Technorati to add it to my “template” so I went in and didn’t know where to add it.

I only have a basic knowledge of HTML.

well, where are you putting it?

Your themes (wordpress uses themes, not templates) files are inside wp-content/themes/

Most themes have a sidebar.php; as you might guess sidebar.php controls what is shown in your sidebar.

I can only assume thats where you want the image, since you havent really explained much.

a little more info would be helpful.

SO basically I should scroll through the template until I get to sidebar (there are a couple of sections) and then place it there? K…I’ll try that later. I’ve had my blog for 3 days so this is very new to me! Thank you!! Technorati had very general instructions which just told me to “paste it into the template” so this newbie wasn’t sure WHERE in the template to put it.

No. What was said above: find the template file called sidebar.php in the theme folder and add the code there!

Thanks. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here for support because the environment doesn’t seem very positive. I’ll definitely follow the advice though.

    Hi Curnchymom,

Was wondering if you got this resolved.

Go to your WordPress dashboard..then click /options/presentation/theme editor. When you’re at your theme editor look to the right side and you will see the different files that come with your theme. Now find sidebar.php, and click on it. The sidebar file will open up in the editor. Scroll down to the bottom of the sidebar.php file and paste your Technorati code just before the closing </div> tag.

Hit ‘update file’ and you should see it on your sidebar.

Good luck to you and sorry you’re having a time of it. Been there myself..(and still am sometimes lol). I’v found it’s usually a matter of getting used to WordPress and searching the support forums, etc. There have been many many people befoe us with te same problems..so that’s good to know..we’re not alone ;O)

The fixes are usually easy once we get the hnag of things.

Try saving the fixes you find to your favorites here at support..saves looking for stuff again. And if your problem gets ‘resolved’ just look to the top of the thread you started and click resolved so people know it’s a closed topic.
