• Hello.

I realise that this may not be the most appropriate place to ask about Technorati, but my issue is related to my WordPress blog, so figured I’d try here anyway (since I can’t find a Technorati-specific forum).

Basically, I’ve claimed my WP blog. Every time I publish a blog entry, it appears on Technorati. In search results, my entry and the first few sentances are displayed. Great.

Except – when I edit the entry, the Technorati entry isn’t updated. When I delete the entry, it still appears on Technorati (its url now going to an Error 404 obviously).

I’ve tried sending an update ping from my Technorati control panel, but this doesn’t update to reflect my blog.

Essentially what I’m asking is: Is there no way to get back or change the content associated with my blog when I hit that Publish button in WordPress?

If so, does anyone else find this a frustrating situation?

Maybe I’m being a bit slow but I can’t believe that I have so little control over what appears on Technorati from my blog – so much so that I’m thinking of de-claiming my blog on there.

    Any thoughts/advice on this?

  • I suspect that Technorati keeps a static copy of your post and doesn’t go back for updates. It would seem to me that if you changed the guid published in your rss feed you’d get a new post in Technorati, but I don’t know for sure.

It used to be that if you published a blog post asking for help and mentioning Dave Sifry or Niall Kennedy, they would show up and comment, perhaps with helpful information (an example here.) Obvious that mechanism wasn’t designed to scale and they may not be able to keep up with that anymore, but it might be worth a shot.

Anyone concerned about this or similar issues might want to follow Improbulus on comsumingexperience.com. She has a series on dealing with Technorati and their indexing of blogs. A lot to learn there. I have also found them to be surprisingly responsive to personal emails.

    Good luck!

    nice info!
