Teams and Sports – how to put everything together

    Hello,

    I am having a hard time distinguishing what goes where!

    I have an Athletic league with multiple teams (schools) and multiple sports. For example, in the Fall Season, all schools participate in volleyball and soccer, in winter basketball etc. Does that mean I have to create a schedule for the school name and sport? sport? or just school? Sorry I am a bit confused on how to link everything together. I have read through the documentation but my situation is a bit unique so it is hard to figure out.

    Hi newyorkjenn,
    Thanks for writing. First, none of the MSTW plugins were designed to support leagues. They were designed for individual teams. For example, when you create a schedule, it is the schedule for ONE team, and you enter only the one team’s opponents. You cannot create a schedule with games such as Team A v Team B, Team C v Team D, etc. (There have been several requests for a league management plugin. Maybe someday.)

    If you are talking about ONE school, it’s pretty easy to create individual schedules for volleyball, soccer, football, etc and so forth. You can then display them together in tables and sliders.

    On the other hand, if you are talking about a volleyball league, say, with multiple teams, you have to create a schedule for each of those teams. You can then display them in a combined league schedule table. The trick is that if you list all the games for each team, you will have duplicate games … one on team A’s schedule vs. Team C and one on Team C’s schedule vs Team A. So what I do is only add the home games to each team’s schedule. Then the combined league schedule is fine, but any individual team schedule will only display its home games.

    Hi Mark,

    Sorry to trouble you again but I cannot seem to find the documentation on how to put multiple schedules together?

    Also, if I do what you say and make schedules for each team(school) and merge them together, does it have the capabilities to update the standings appropriately or would I have to do something manually?

    What must been do to correct?

    Tried importing schedules. Skipped 24 schedules (most likely due to empty title.) Imported 0 schedules to database in 0.00 seconds.
