• Hi

I have been asked to teach css to children and I am wanting to use WordPress. The idea is to change various elements as we go along. So edit the themes width, background colour/image, fonts, alignment etc. I will be using 2016 theme as standard. Basically I am wondering whether anyone has already made a list of classes and ids that I could have as a cheat sheet to use when styling and changing the theme.

    Thanks for any help.

    Rich

There is a listing of CSS tips specifically for TwentySixteen theme here, not really a cheatsheet though, personally I would just use a browsers Inspect Element tool to work my way through the code structure.

Please make sure you either create a child theme of TwentySixteen, or use a CSS editor plugin (Jetpack is one of them). Otherwise, you will lose any of the edits when the TwentySixteen file updates.

Also, the link above uses the ‘!important’ rule, which is generally frowned upon. If you create a child theme, you’ll be able to edit the css without the need for !important.
