    Hi

I suspect I do not fully understand CPTs and Taxonomies but I have a CPT of Windfarms and a Custom Taxonomy of Locations which leads to categories of UK, Sweden, France etc.

I’m wanting to categorise the individual windfarms into their home countries… so in the menu and breadcrumbs I can link to example.com/windfarms/locations/uk and example.com/windfarms/locations/sweden etc which would show a list of the individual windfarms in those countries. Is this possible?

If not what do Custom Taxonomies actually achieve?

    Guidance appreciated

    Pete

I don’t see why that can’t be achievable as a whole. The only part I see maybe being a difference/issue is the URL with the “windfarms” part being in there.

On a quick hunch, I’m assuming those URLs, as is, are returning a WordPress 404 and not an archive for the term.

My guess is that removing the post type slug would start working for the archive, based on how taxonomy permalinks tend work out of the box. So we’d be at a point of needing to customize permalink rewrite rules in order to get the post type included. However that’s an area that CPTUI doesn’t handle at all, and I consider to be a complex topic to get right if you’re not sure what’s going on in the guts of things.
