Taxonomies for Pages and links?

Hi folks,

I am brand new to WP and I don’t mind doing the learning but I was hoping to just get some direction first. I have to build a site where there will be a listing of many restaurants and they should be grouped by geographic area, type, cost, etc. My question is, can I do this with Taxonomy? I am somewhat familiar with Drupal and in that system I can apply taxonomy terms to pages and then those terms can be links. Is that possible here with plugins? If so could anyone put me on the right path?
