• Hello!

I’m trying this plugin to help manage a large media library. We simply need a few basic media categories, which we have been able to add and everything seems to work well.

However, we use WPML, along with the WPML Media add-on, to manage the site in five different languages. The problem is that once I assign a category to a media item for one language, the other four languages do not reflect this change, so I have to update the category five times per image. This is a tedious task, and it would be a lot easier if the category could be shared by all languages.

I’m not sure if this is an issue you can fix or an issue best discussed with the folks over at WPML, but I figured I’ll start here just in case you have any suggestions.

    Thanks.

    Hi Amit,

The last email I received from Harshad was dated February 17. It exactly about icl_object_id function. I sent late enough reply dated March 8 (Harshad asked for new EML’s code, but we were testing it) with detailed description of how we tried to use icl_object_id and what problem we faced. This long email is followed by a short one with the database error we got during our “experiments” with translations IDs. I can re-send both, if needed.

The latest update enables Media Categories for translate by default!

I had to delete wpml-config.xml as I didn’t want to use this feature yet. I already have lot’s of media categories and I need time to translate and move the media around.

Can you please make this optional?

    Hello @jonazu,

I believe WPML > Translation Options > Custom taxonomies > “Do nothing” set for Media Categories will fix the issue. I will add WPML usage description on our website soon.

    Hi Nadia

That was the obvious solution I tried. Unfortunately I cannot set it to nothing. It is disabled. Can you set it to nothing?

    Hi Jonas,

Ok, thanks for pointing the issue to me. I will remove media taxonomies from wpml-config for the next release. I didn’t realize that including translation options in wpml-config prevents the ability to change them in WPML admin.
