    Hello,

I have automatic taxes enabled and have tried leaving ” * ” in for the State Code but it still ends up reverting to IL (where we are located) once orders have been made. We have received orders outside the state of Illinois and the tax is not being applied at all. I would assume I don’t have to manually input all 50 states and their tax percentage since I have automatic taxes enabled. Please let me know if anyone knows what I’m doing wrong.

If I delete the 1 row with the Illinois tax rate, tax does not calculate at all. It ends up being $0 in the checkout process. The taxes are not being automatically calculated – not calculating at all.

    Hi there,

It sounds like the tax rates are being calculated correctly for orders in Illinois, but the tax rates are set to “0” for orders outside of IL.

If this is the case, the behavior is expected when using the plugin. The plugin will work only for locations where you have a “Tax Nexus” (in this case IL, based on your store’s address).

We have additional information on how to handle additional nexuses on our documentation page: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-shipping-and-tax/woocommerce-tax/#automated-taxes-do-not-appear-to-be-calculating

Let me know if that helps!

In the meantime, have a great rest of your day and a great weekend!

    Hi there,

I trust that what Francesco said points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know.

So I’m going to mark this as resolved for now.
