I never had this issue before, but today I received an order and there was no sales tax added to the total, but calculated and shown as tax position. The item is activated for being taxable, the province of origin (Saskatchewan) and the tax rules have never been changed after the shop was set up a year ago, and still seem to be correct. And the sales tax for the province New Brunswick (Canada) is actually stated in the summary. But the total amount does not include the sales tax. Another order just from the day before to another province (Alberta) has the sales tax added properly. What changed last night?? And how to fix it???

And a stupid question: Am I blind or is there really no option to upload a picture to this forum????? Then please find the screenshot here:

    Thanks for any help.

You aren’t blind – and thank you for sharing the screenshot! ??

Can you please share a screenshot of the tax settings, specifically those that should have triggered for New Brunswick?

Here are more screenshots showing the “standard tax” values (why is New Brunswick a thousand times in the list?!), the tax settings for WooCommerce, and the general store settings:

You may have added the taxes through a CSV file or similar – that can create multiple entries. You only need the one line for each setup, though.

It looks like the tax wasn’t picked up as it wasn’t an exact match:

If you’re trying to do a 15% NB Tax for New Brunswick, you should remove the city and zip code – then any address in New Brunswick will trigger the tax:

I deleted all the entries and set up the tax rates again for Canada. Then I went to create the same order as my customer punched in, and everything seems to work as expected now.

I am pretty sure the tax table was created once with only the Canadian provinces and territories. I have now idea what blew up the table to about 100 entries.

I’m glad to hear you solved it!

It could be that another plugin created the extra lines – it’s not possible to find out in hindsight. I recommend keeping an eye on it from here on out.
