    This is occurring because of a setting in the first image you posted (thank you for that, btw, VERY helpful!). You have set your store to accept the prices you input “inclusive” of tax. This means that when you enter “1499” for a price your store thinks that’s how much you want to charge in total, price and tax together. The store then does the math for you to determine what the product cost and taxes should be for a TOTAL of $1499.

    If you would like to charge $1499 + $149.90 in taxes then you would need to use the other setting here:

    This will allow your store to charge $1499 for the product and add $149.90 in taxes to bring the total to $1648.90 for your customer to pay.
