• Resolved trouble-buster

I just noticed this issue, which never used to occur, but I’m not sure what has changed to make it suddenly happen.

My WP E-Commerce checkout page correctly calculates North Carolina state tax for customers with NC shipping addresses, with the appropriate total in addition to shipping, but once you click through to Paypal, the tax calculations have disappeared. Logging into Paypal and completing the transaction does not affect anything.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening, or how to fix it? I’ve tried adjusting the Tax settings under Store Settings, but to no avail.

    Thank you!

Unfortunately, not. I just received an order today… still no tax was pushed through the PayPal system.

Any other settings I should be looking at?

Mihai, I have an email drafted to you; however, before I send it can you comment on this?

We are using a coupon which discounts the item to zero. Could that be why the order isn’t charging tax? We really need tax to be calculated prior to any discounts. Is that possible? Here is what it looks like in the final order:

    Subtotal: $35.00
    Tax: $0.00
    Shipping: $2.99
    Total: $2.99
Payment Method: PayPal Payments Standard 2.0
    Shipping Method: Shipping
    Shipping Option: Standard Shipping

“We are using a coupon which discounts the item to zero. Could that be why the order isn’t charging tax?”

Maybe the law is different where you are. In most places, you don’t charge tax on things that are free.

I am having the same issue as trouble-buster. If a customer living in Nevada (where 8.1% tax should be added) puts in their state and zip code, this is the message that comes up: “Please specify shipping location below to calculate your shipping costs Please provide a Zipcode and click Calculate in order to continue.” I tried turning off the billing and shipping form, but that doesn’t work. My settings are: tax exclusive, add per product tax, apply tax when shipping country is the same as tax rate.

Wondering if there has been a fix for this. I submitted a support ticket this morning. Is there any resolution?

I still have not heard back from (premium) support. The only way I could fix it was by selecting “Users must re-enter Shipping Address” in the Checkout tab.

I’m hoping there is permanent fix than this as I’m sure shopping cart abandonment is higher on sites where users must enter their info twice.
