Tax calculation not working

    Hi

    I have entered all my prices excluding tax with ‘No, I will enter prices exclusive of tax’ checked. I then checked ‘show prices including tax ‘ for both product and cart. Neither of these work – the frontend display price and the cart price are the same as the prices entered in admin. As I understood it, it should add tax.

    The prices entered in admin for the first variable is ￡4.58. I have set the standard tax rate to 20% so I would expect it to display as ￡5.50 on the product page and the cart.

    For the record this is a new version of an existing site. I have copied the woocommerce settings EXACTLY and it work find on the old site:

    I have tried switching off all plugins except woocommerce and the problem persists

    I am running latest version of the theme (Elsey from Victor themes), WP 5.8.1 and woocomm 5.8.0

    Hi there,

    I understand you’re having issues with taxes not being displayed on site. There are several things that can impact this, but the main one I would have suggested would be the default customer location, and ensuring that maps to the tax rate entered.

    Looking at the site, however, I am now seeing 5.50, so it looks like you’ve resolved this already?

    Hi Mike – thanks for coming back to me. You;re right I did figure it out in the end – trial and error – but I got there.

    Buried deep in the google search responses I found a reference to an ‘issue’ with the tax rate settings. In the current live site the tax is set to ‘shop base’ and the tax settings for standard (i.e. the one the shop uses) has the country, postcode AND city fields filled in. The answer I found suggested setting the postcode and city to a wildcard. I did this on my development site and it worked.

    A bit random but problem solved!

    Hi Martin,

    Good catch. Yes you can set wildcards or leave them blank. For the UK, since VAT is country wide, I’d leave postcode and city blank and just set the country code.
