• Hi,

I have a tax issue. I’m using a plugin to determine if (on checkout) a valid EU VAT number is entered. If it is valid, no VAT should be charged. This works ok in the checkout screen. The VAT disappears on entering a valid VAT number. Then the customers pays the amount without VAT. Strange thing is that after payment (in the order confirmation screen), VAT is added to the order! If I look at the order in WooCommerce, I notice that the VAT is applied over the total amount, but the VAT is only showing on the product lines and not on the shipping line.

So the amount payed is 38.95… but the order after payment shows a total of 46.47.

I contacted the EU VAT plugin developer, the payment gateway developer. They assured me the problem is not in their plugin…

    I tried the following:

    – Deleting the payment gateway plugin (and using standard WC payment option) > no change
    – Deleting EU VAT plugin and installing another EU VAT plugin > no change
    – Downgrade from WC 2.69 to 2.6.5 > no change

I made some screenshots (left checkout screen, right order confirmation, below order in WC backend):

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you get the same thing when just using the normal tax rates in WC (i.e. skipping EU Vat altogether)? This will rule out EU Vat as the culprit.

Thanks for your reply Riaan. I can’t rule out the EU VAT plugin. If I disable it, tax is charged in all cases.

But I have another interesting screenshot of the order confirmation form. In the top the amount payed by the customers is shown (which is correct and without VAT). Below you see the total with VAT included. This causes a mismatch in what the customer payed and what the order total states. This shouldn’t be possible… any ideas?
