• I installed this plugin a long time ago and wondered how Tatvic got my personal Google email address, since I’ve never knowingly provided Tatvic with my personal information. Turns out they source this data from Google accounts when you install the plugin, and automatically add you their email list. Whether or not this is clear in the fine print, Tatvic claims they do not source your information in their privacy policy on their website: under ‘For Tools and Plugins’ and the clause that “All this data is anonymised and collected as an aggregate data and can’t be track down to specific person or personal data of the user.” Seems like their method of collection, storage and use of data is not kosher – and at the very least is a break in mutual trust people have for developers when installing plugins from the WordPress ecosystem.
