• So, I’ve spent hours searching the internet and the support topics here and cannot find anything. I really hope someone can help.

I am taking over a forum website for an organization I am part of. The original admin was deleted, thus deleting all he had done to the site. So, when I took over, I was learning the system and saw that we required many updates. So, I began updating everything.

When I was updating, it took 4.3.1, and then I went onto plug-ins. It froze and would not complete. Now if I go to the site I get only this statement:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare safely_add_stylesheet() (previously declared in /homepages/29/d546870080/htdocs/8Oct2014/wp-content/plugins/floating-login/floating-login.php:31) in /homepages/29/d546870080/htdocs/8Oct2014/wp-content/plugins/rizzi-guestbook/Rizzi-Guestbook.php on line 132

From what I’ve read is the plugins where corrupted and I need to go in and deactivate the plugins to be able to log on again. However, the only way to do so seems to be through an ftp. However, I do not have an ftp account to log onto (I’m using FileZilla). I do not know how to contact my web host, or even know who that is.

That leads me here, is there another way to fix this error, or a way to find contact information for my webhost? Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

  • Can you post your website and I might be able to figure out where the site is hosted?

Another method as to disabling plugins is using phpMyAdmin, instructions below.

Let me know if this helps.

    David,
Thank you for your assistance! the site is https://www.crestviewsinnersandsaints.net. I looked at the phpMyAdmin you posted the article said ” If you don’t know how to get to phpMyAdmin, then we recommend using the FTP method above.” Haha. So, I’m not sure on how to access the phpMyAdmin. Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You are going to have to disable the Rizzi Guestbook plugin at a minimum in order to get rid of this error. It doesn’t look like you can access the wp-admin so you are going to have to go in and remove it from the plugins directory via FTP. I would download the Rizzi Guestbook and then remove it from the system. It looks like you are using a function called safely_add_stylesheet in both the Rizzi plugin and the floating login plugin.

This does not mean there will not be further issues once you resolve this. With the original developer gone, you have no way of knowing exactly what was done to the site. You may have corrupted core files or corrupted plugin files that were modded. I don’t envy your position.

    Good luck with your project.

What about FTP? This seems to be a better option as its easier.

I can do FTP, but I don’t know the FTP account. So I need to contact my webmaster…but I don’t have any idea who/where/how to do that
