    In Yoast settings > Tags, I’ve set the toggle to turn off indexing for Tags, but when viewing html source of Tags the robots meta says “index”. I’ve tried toggling that setting off/on and there’s no change, tested disabling all plugins except Yoast, tested changing themes, tested a bunch of things.

    What works is if I edit a Tag and save it, then it shows the correct noindex in the html. It doesn’t require changing anything on the Tag, just doing a quick edit and saving with no change, then checking the source shows it updates to noindex.

    <meta name="robots" content="index, follow, max-image-preview:large, max-snippet:-1, max-video-preview:-1" />

    Hi @thanewest

    I have checked this from my test site and noticed the tag pages’ page source show noindex from robots meta tag when I disable the tag pages from Yoast settings > Categories and Tags > Tags area.

    Kindly check conflict on your site.

    Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-Two.

    Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

    If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

    Let us know what you see.
