Tags are still not firing properly
-
We have had some issues with custom events in analytics not showing any data. We also had issues were our conversion tag was not showing all sales or did so 48 hours later. Google support comes back to us and say
We have gone through your website again and we have found that the tags are still not firing properly, The account ID added in the Tag Manager snippet is wrong. I have shared the information with you in my previous email. Also I have checked the website again and found multiple tags installed on your website, however we have also detected multiple errors on the tags which are mentioned below.
Multiple installations of Global site tag (gtag.js) detected.
Account ID in gtag.js URL is invalid or missing. The Google tag snippet loads gtag.js using the following path: /gtag/js?id=PRODUCT_ACCOUNT_ID, where PRODUCT_ACCOUNT_ID is an ID for the product and account (or property) from which the Google tag snippet was generated (or should be associated).
Failing to properly set this ID should not directly affect the data received by your accounts, but may affect future functionality.
Solution: Ensure that the ID in your gtag.js code is correct.
My main question is regarding their comment “The account ID added in the Tag Manager snippet is wrong” since we have followed site kit setup there is not much we can do wrong and we have checked all values in site kit and as far as we can see we have the correct analytics account number, the correct g4 property id, correct measure id and correct tag id. Same goes for tagmanager being setup using site kit.
Google support asks us to report this to the site kit team since they say they cant help us with this.
What can we add here to make it easier for you to potentially help us out. Google support just said what we posted above and gave us link to https://support.google.com/tagassistant/answer/3207128?ref_topic=2947092#multiple_tags
If we in analytics click we want to install the g4 tag manually we can see <script async src=”https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=G-Q4KNPHCKV6″></script> should be added. We can also see G-Q4KNPHCKV6 in the site kit settings. So all looks ok. But looking at the source on our pages and searching for it, it is missing.
