    Hi Steven,

This value is defined in the Settings > Default Titles & Meta section.
Can you pop me through a screen shot of this?

Also, can you email me through a link to the actual page? If it is the same domain name as before, I have that … so you can just email me through the folder structure to avoid any issues. Or simply reply to our last email chain on this.

    Thanks.

I cannot find the email but Yes it is the same domain(adult). I initially switched to yoast due to falsely perceived resource issues but now I switched my host and switched back to Hippo because I like Hippo a lot better. But I want the categories, posts, and tags to display (title of post or tag/category, then a pipe to separate “|”, then the main title of my website. That is what i am trying to do. Right now my posts only display the post title but not the separator or main site title. Tags display the raw template with %%tag_title%% and categories are displaying fine.

Right now only the categories and main homepage are displaying correctly. I want all others to display the same way. I can give you access to my admin area if need be for you to investigate.

    Thanks
    Steven

    Hi Steve,

Ok, let’s try a couple of things.

On the Settings > Default Titles & Meta > Tags
    Change %tag_title% to %tag_name%

Note that placeholders should have 1 “%” at the start and end of a placeholder not 2 “%%”

For taxonomies, you should be able to use %tax_name%.

These tags will ONLY work on the relevant tab. So %tag_name% only works for Tag Archive pages, etc.

Let me know if this works for you.

Okay that worked. Thank you. Now how about adding pipe and main site title to all post titles globally? Or is this not recommended?

Also what about the description area for categories and tags? How to define and then call?

From an SEO standpoint, it is not recommended to add a “| Site Name” default text to all pages. We took the advice of SEO experts and did not allow for this.

But, you could still add it manually to the end of all of your pages if you really require this.

    For the description areas:

From Settings > Default Titles & Meta > Categories, you can enter in any text you desire in the Description field and it will display on the Category Archives page. Tag archive pages are set at Settings > Default Titles & Meta > Tags

You can use the following fields also to pull in data:
    Categories
    %site_title% – set at Dashboard > Settings > General > Site Title
    %site_desc% – Set at Dashboard > Settings > General > Tagline
    %cat_name% – Category name

    Tags
    %site_title% – set at Dashboard > Settings > General > Site Title
    %site_desc% – Set at Dashboard > Settings > General > Tagline
    %tag_name% – Tag name

Unfortunately, we do not yet have a method for setting a custom description for each category. We may add this in a future release to allow you to pull in the category description, tag description, etc.
