more tag – or how to modify length of a post on the main blog page

Hello, I’m trying to modify the length of each blog post that is displayed on the main blog posts page.

I am currently using the <!–more–> tag where I want the “Continue Reading” link to appear.

However, if I click “Continue reading” it takes me to wherever the <!–more–> tag is in the code when the single post opens. Is it possible to make it so when I click “Continue reading” it goes to the beginning of the single post as if I had clicked on the title? Is there a different tag I should be using?

Or any other suggestions for doing this?
