Standard WordPress permits tag names that differ only in case. I cannot do that for KnowAll theme “article” post types on my site. Is this a Tag Groups constraint or perhaps a constraint from KnowAll?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I just tested with the tabbed tag cloud and the two tags with different capitalization appear both.

Where do you experience the issue and what exactly happens when you enter tags that differ only in capitalization? Is the second one rejected?

I don’t know the KnowAll theme, but you could switch to one of the default themes and then try again.

PS: I noticed now that WordPress doesn’t let me add tags that differ only in case, but that doesn’t seem to depend on Tag Groups. I cannot even do it when the plugin is deactivated.

So on my server it is different with a default WordPress installation. Maybe your theme or another plugin is changing that behavior?

Thanks for your thorough reply, Chris!

If I go to another site that I maintain, I can select Posts > Tags and add a tag that differs only in case–if and only if I also specify a different slug for the two tags. Put a number on the end of the slug, for example.

I think I have my workaround, now ??
