When I connect tag manager via the plugin, the code adds an extra “>” to the top of my page just below the <body> tag

FYI, I am not also adding the scripts to my header.php file. It is just the code that the plugin is adding to the header….

had to disconnect it…. hope it gets fixed soon?

I really do appreciate the plugin though ! ??

  • Hello @propertunity ,

Thanks for reaching out to Site Kit support team.

Just for the confirmation, are you configuring Tag Manager via Site Kit? It’d be great if you can share Site URL with us so we can look into this issue for you.

To troubleshoot further can you please apply following basic troubleshooting steps:

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Attempt to setup Tag Manager once more
    5. Check whether you see any additional “>” in Tag Manager snippet

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

Yes, I am connecting Tag Manager via the Google Site Kit plugin.

Wordpress already has Site Health bundled…

I doubt this makes a difference, but these are the only things showing in red:

    deaHubModule: ?
    serviceSetupV2: ?
    storeErrorNotifications: ?
    userInput: ?
    widgets.moduleScreens: ?

Set up Tag Manager in the Site Kit once more and still getting the “>” at the top of my site… Disconnect Tag Manager and “>” is gone…

It happens when I let the plugin insert the .js snippets

If I toggle off the setting “Let Site Kit place code on your site” in the Site Kit plugin and just manually place the 2 scripts in the header.php file, it doesn’t show the “>”

Its most likely and extra “>” a dev left in the plugin code somewhere….

@propertunity can you see additional “>” in troubleshoot mode?

To dig more deeply can you please share your Site Health information via form privately so we can inspect your setup and active plugins. There may be third party plugins impacting Site Kit placed snippet.

I <3 tech support. “Did you try rebooting your computer?”

    Hello @propertunity ??

Did you try above mentioned troubleshooting steps? As those steps will rule out all the plugins except Site Kit & activate WP default Twenty theme. It’ll help us to determine any third party conflict.
