• I run two blogs – I upgraded both with a new theme and one of them lost its Tag Cloud widget from the widget list in dashboard – its not there to add to my sidebars.

So far I’ve tried resetting my widgets (code and widget reset plugin) on my current and all my previous themes – to no avail.

    Any ideas?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

Aye – I’ve tried that including reinstalling WP 2.8.2… No luck so far.

Did you change themes before you upgraded to 2.8? If ‘yes’, do you still have a copy of the old theme available?

If you do, switch back to it temporarily and check in Admin/Appearance/Widgets. You may find the Tag Cloud widget still installed in the sidebar of your old theme. If it is, remove it and then switch back to your current theme. With luck, the Tag Cloud widget will now have re-appeared in the list of widgets available.

Problem solved by physically editing the MySQL database. Insane when you have no clue what you’re doing.
