• I have searched the forums and found a number of posts relating to the tracking of mailto: links not working but these are really old posts now (2+ years old).

I know the change log states that tracking of mailto: links was added quite a while ago but I just don’t seem to be able to get it to work.

I am using Version 5.4.2 of the plugin and my assumption is that they should be tracked as events based on the settings I have specified for the plugin.

When I view the code I don’t see any additional events code on the links and I don’t see anything in the realtime analytics when I click on the email address.

Is there something specific I need to do to enable it ?

    Cheers

  • I can confirm this, Analytics by Yoast is currently NOT tracking mailto: links, but it should according to the docs I think.

Havent been able to solve it so far.

Phew. Glad it isn’t just me then ??

I can confirm too. It look like it broke in version 5.4.

The last successfully tracked mailto link for me was the 15th April. That would have been version 5.3.3. According to the change log 5.4 was released on the 20th April so it looks like that broke it. I only get a few emails a week so its technically possible that it worked in 5.4 but I never had any emails and it was 5.4.1 or 5.4.2 that broke it. I have had emails since the version 5.4.2 and these are not being tracked (you can see that there is no code in the HTML).

    Having the same issue.
No tracking is added to the mailto links anymore.
This stopped abruptly for me in late April.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I have found this post cause I need to track mailto links. Any update or help ?

    thanks
