• Hi, I’m using Kadence tabs on my website and I have two questions:

    – Can I have the tabs closed on loading? I can select which tab to be open initially, but “none” isn’t an option.

    – I like the option to turn tabs into accordions for mobile users, but is it possible for only one pane to be open at the same time, more in line with traditional tab behavior?

  • Hey!

    1. That isn’t an option, with tabs one is setup to show. You can use an accordion and start all hidden.

    2. Not at the moment, because of useability I’m not sure I will add this option. If you collapse an area on mobile it can cause the height of your page to change and that can cause the viewport to move because it’s based on the distance from the top of the page to where you are. This means that when you click to open the second accordion and the first close it can cause a really jarring and none user-friendly experience as your position in the page is lost. So for the best usability accordions say open unless they are manually closed on mobile.

Hi, I’m a little surprised about the second answer, as the “only open one at a time” function is default behavior for your regular accordions.

I totally get the concerns, but in my case I just need it for very small sections (1-2 lines), so it doesn’t apply. Maybe I’ll just switch over to the accordion block completely then – just a shame I’ll lose the tab functionality on desktop.

    Thanks for your answer!
