• Hi There,

i just installed and tested this plugin, because i was looking for an accessible Plugin for tabs and accordions. First of all: thanks for this plugin, it is great, easy to use and the mobile feature for tabs is awesome!!! ??

But unfortunately the tabs are not accessible with the tab key ?? Only the first tab is accessible with the tab key but not the other tabs. Please also see your plugin-page: https://plethoraplugins.com/tabs-accordions. Accordions work fine with the tab key.

So, obvisouly it is a bug and the plugin description does not realy fit: “An accessibility-focused user-friendly tabs or accordion block for the default WordPress editor” –> yes indeed it is very user friendly an i like it, but in my opinion it is NOT 100% accessibility-focused as the tabs are not all accessible with the tab key.

But anyways: thanks for the plugin and your work! Is there a chance that this bug will be fixed? That would be awsesome because it is one of the best “Tabs & and Accordion-Plugin” i’ve tested so far and i reluctantly want to switch to another plugin.

Thanks for any advice & kind regards

    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,

This isn’t actually a bug, and works per W3C specifications. The tab set is selected using the tab, but then the arrow keys are used to navigate between tabs. You can see an example of this at https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/patterns/tabs/examples/tabs-manual/, and https://plethoraplugins.com/tabs-accordions works the same way. The full specs are at https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/patterns/tabs/ . Per those specs, the tab key should only be used to activate the first tab in a tab set, which is what our plugin does. Arrow keys are used to navigate between tabs in a given tab set.

    Hi Casper,

Thanks for your detailed answer. So obviously i had a lack of knowledge and I would like to apologize for this. I just gave your a 5-star review, because it’s a really goog plugin! ??

Maybe a last question: is it possible to add a schema for a faq-accordion? Maybe in the pro version?

    Thanks & kind regards

Thanks for the five-star review, Matthias. I totally get where you were coming from though. Lots of sites (incorrectly) use the tab key to tab through tabs.

Re: FAQ schema, I assume you mean adding schema attributes support as shown on https://stackoverflow.com/questions/77190190/how-to-add-schema-markup-to-faq-html-code. That’s a good idea for the pro version.

you’re welcome i have to say thanks.

Yes, i mean a schema.org-schema ?? Yoast adds this for their FAQ block and there are some accordion blocks out there, where you have the possibility, to mark an accordion as a “faq-Accordion” so that it gets the correkt faq-schema.

    Have a nive evening.

    Cheers

    Matthias
