Tables vs Div

  • Hi there,
    I was wondering why everyone uses <div> tags and styling to control all the content of the website instead of using tables? Is this a personal preference or is there a specific reason for people using div over tables?

    I’m pretty old school so I used tables for a long time (because of the Photoshop slice tool).
