Tablepress did not detect WP-Table Reloaded

    I downloaded and installed Tablepress, then enabled the plugin. WP-Table Reloaded tables stopped working (the shortcode just appeared as itself in various pages), and I couldn’t find Tablepress anywhere in the WordPress dashboard to try to configure it (looked under tools, settings, and also looked for an option in the installed plugins section). So, I uninstalled Tablepress, and now WP-Table Reloaded works again.

    The site is at https://www.nnmta.org (Students –> Silver State Competition would be an example of a page using tables).

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    You could not see a “TablePress” entry in the admin menu on the left? That’s strange.

    Are you logged-in as and admin? Are you maybe using any role manager or user capability managing plugins?

    I was logged in as myself (Administrator access) when I did everything described above, and indeed I’m using Advanced Access Manager (basic) to make it so different members of this non-profit organization can only update their own sections of the website. (My, my, you have good instincts… I feel almost as if a fortune teller just read my palm….) I’m crossing my fingers that you aren’t going to say these two plugins are and always will be utterly incompatible with each other!

    No, those plugins are not incompatible. The Advanced Access Manager plugin just has to be “refreshed” once, after installing TablePress. (I’ve had the issue with the missing menu entry before, once, that’s why I was asking.)

    So, please re-install TablePress. You’ll likely still not see the TablePress menu entry, but after saving the permissions for your role again in Advanced Access Manager, the entry should appear.

    You can then actually use Advanced Access Manager to restrict/open access to different capabilities in TablePress. TablePress brings its own set of capabilities for different actions. For example, you could use this to prevent user from the “Editor” role to delete tables, if you wanted to.

    Thanks. At first it didn’t work after re-saving the administrator role, I saved just one more time, and for some reason, it worked the second time.
