Table of content plus doesn't hold paginated posts : links are wrong

    I use “Table of Contents Plus” and just began to use too with “Wp Table of Paginated Contents” for long paginated posts.

    I got the following problem with paginated posts :
    The links defined into the Table are wrong for the headers that are not into the current page with paginated posts
    The links from the widget “Table of Content plus” is defined in code relative to the Id "href='#<id_text_for_title_in_table>'".
    Then the submitted url is "Site_ref?p=numpost&page=nn#id_text_title

    The REQUEST page=nn is wrong : it is always the current displayed page while the table is relative to the whole post… so the id is unknown and the link crashes

    This is a bug which comes from the fact that the table is produced for a current “post” associated with one unique url which wrong for paginated posts.

    note : If you use the “table tag” into a header which is owned by one lonely “page (separated block by two Nextpage WPn tag)” you don’t get the problem.

    So it seems currently impossible to get a full table of a paginated post.

    It is sure that this must be changed for a future version even I have developed a solution (see note).

    note : I have developed an enhancement which holds this problem. The “Nextpage” are treated first as “pseudo headers” and later are cleaned, then a pagenum is easily associated to the headers of the table (an id too, for future use), the link builder code is rewritten and the link generated depends of the current “page” displayed. (they are too many changes to be listed here)

    Hi,

    I post two month ago, no one answer.

    So I can think that nobody uses the plugin with paginated content using the <!–nextpage–> tag, or is interested in this problem.

    The enhancement, that I developed as answer, is functioning well (there are changes in several places and 40 lines of code, it is too large to explain it here)

    Another plugin designed to create “table of contents” (toc) specifies “functions with paginated contents”, so there is something erroneous in all that.

    Hi,
    I have it, because I have fully developed it. It is not a simple fix it is a development (forty lines of code for six blocks).
    I wrote a lot about this subject : the way the paginated post structures are held right now in WordPress, you will find my posts by searching by post author.

    I have proposed to the author to upgrade his plugin with my changes (a large patch in several points), I don’t got any answer since two month.

    I don’t know what are the WP rules and how the common applications of licenses into the WordPress team context are applied, this particularly when somebody else than the author upgrades a plugin which is not really maintained anymore by his original author.

    I have also many others enhancements on others plugins, developed to answer to my needs that are shared…

    For another plugin it is quite a new plugin based on the ancient.
    Two others features can become new plugins.

    It should be very hard to copy here the code and explain how to patch.

    I have to look at these rules, I never took the time to do it.
    Then I will be glad to send you by normal support this new code (I have to clean it a little, there are, right now, many development comments).

    @trebly… please where can i see your upgraded version… i’d like a link… it seems you are the only one on the internet with a sure fix.. even the author doesnt know his way around this…
    the plugin seems to pull its pagination from the_content… i am very interested in your approach to this problem

    Hi,

    One or two days more… till now the access to the site was limited to a very few numbers of persons who was reading some contents, this for the contents only (society, economics and politics in France, and sciences and philosophy of which I am the author).

    I was not satisfied of the functioning of the site…

    I plan to define a user group with access to demo contents of the site, and I have to separate the contents to have demo text written in English, and introduce them as visit guides.
