Same problem: I cannot edit the actual table content in the WordPress Dashboard. (Log in> Table Press > Select table to edit > no content in content field but rest of options available.)

My work-around: [1] In WordPress, export the table as CSV. [2] In Windows, open CSV in Notepad. [3] In Windows Notepad, made changes and saved Notepad file [5] In WordPress, imported the file to the same table, replacing the data.

Fortunately, the table only had two columns and 10 rows. The CSV file took only a few minutes to find and change the names in the 2nd column.

However, I should have been able to edit the table contents directly inside WordPress without the extra steps of my work-around.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Can you check if the content editor is simply collapsed or hidden? You should then be seeing a white bar labelled “Table Content” on the screen, and you can again expand it by clicking on the arrow on its right. Also, please check if it’s maybe marked as hidden in the “Screen Options” tab in the top right corner of the screen.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Here is what I do and what I see:

    • I logged into WordPress. On the left-side Dashboard, I selected “TablePress” > All tables
    • Under table #1, “Board of Directors,” I selected Edit.
    • Across the top are screen options. When I open that, I see that all options are checked:
      √ Table Information | √ Table Content | √ Table Manipulation | √ Table Options | √ Table Features for Site Visitors.
      I closed the screen options.
    • The first block on the page is “Table Information.” I can see Table ID (#1), Shortcode, Table Name, etc.
There is nothing here that I needed to change.
    • Next block is Table Content. It has two rows, and they go all the way across the screen.
      • The first row contains the words “Table Content” and the second row is blank. To the far right in the first row are three items: An uptick, a downtick, and a solid triangle.
      • (I found that the two ticks move the block up and down, effectively allowing me to arrange the work areas on the screen.)
      • The solid triangle opens and closes the second row, where I would expect to find data.
It is empty (blank) when it is open.
    • The last three blocks don’t talk about data. They are Table Manipulation, Table Options, and Features for Site Visitors.

I don’t what else I can do to have data appear in the 2nd “Table Content” block that is opened/closed by the solid triangle in the first “Table Content” bock.

Do you want screen shots, or set up a Zoom session? Let me know.

    Hi,

ok, so the the “Table Content” section is there, but not showing content.

Indeed, a screenshot would be nice. Can you maybe create one (e.g. by pressing “Print” on the keyboard on Windows, or Cmd+Shift+3 on a Mac) and then upload it to a service like?https://imgur.com/?and post the link here?

Also, can you please check the browser’s error log console in the Developer Tools for any hints regarding CSS or JavaScript errors?

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hello! Thank you for making TablePress available for everyone. I am using it for my own research quite a lot. Unfortunately, I am having exactly the same issue described by @rjaggers.

I moved the blocks around – and tried a number of things, but to no avail

This post status is “solved”, but I do not find the solution. Can you please share it?

    Thanks a lot,

    Karsten.

    Hi Karsten,

unfortunately, rjaggers didn’t reply further, so I don’t know if the problem still exists for him. So, if would be great if you could provide a screenshot or check the error log console as described in my previous reply.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Re “Resolved” – The issue still exists on the website. I don’t have the expertise to find and examine the developer’s error log for CSS and PHP errors. The data has been changed, and that problem has been corrected. I shared what I did step-by-step.

My work-around (solution) was to download the data, manually edit the CSV file, then upload and replace what was there. Fortunately, the data set was less than 20 rows, and I could easily identify what needed to be changed.

    Hi rjaggers,

thanks for the update here! Yes, all this is a bit technical, I understand. For the error log in the Developer Tools, just click on the Three-dots menu in your browser, go down to “Advanced Tools” (the exact word depends on your computer’s locale), and choose “Developer Tools”. You might then be seeing red text, which would be helpful to have. You could copy/paste that here, or post a screenshot, for which I posted suggestions above. A screenshot of what you are seeing on the screen would also be nice.

Your list of what exact steps you took are definitely great, but as I can’t spot anything odd/wrong there, they don’t directly help in finding the cause of the issue.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
