Hello,

I am using complianz plugin on my website, and I like it.
For testing my site I use lighthouse chrome extension and I’ve received the above message:
“Some elements have a [tabindex] value greater than 0.
A value greater than 0 implies an explicit navigation ordering…”

I’ve tried to change the tabindex value to 0, but is not possible to add custom CSS.

The elements classes that are affected:
– class=”cc-link”
– class=”cmplz-square”
– class=”cc-btn cc-save cc-save-settings”

Could you change them or help me doing it?

Hi @mareszke,

The tabindex is added intentionally, to allow users to navigate through the banner using tabs.

This is done to improve accessibility according to the WCAG 2.0. I would not recommend to change this.

Hello,
thank you very much for your answer.
I researched for the WCAG 2.0 recommendation, and I’ve read the google and mozilla recommendations as well. And it seems the WCAG 2.0 recommendation regarding to tabindex is not valid anymore.
Here is the mozilla article, which was updated in may this year:

Hi @mareszke,

Thanks for your input. We will test with the tabindex 0 to see if it can work without.

If that is the case we will include this in the next update, 4.7.2 (4.7.1 is scheduled for today, so it won’t make that release).

We’re currently testing with the tabindex 0. If you want you can test it yourself using this branch:
https://github.com/Really-Simple-Plugins/complianz-gdpr/tree/tabindex-to-0

If all tests are completed successfully, it will get merged in 4.7.2
