Fresh install of AWeber Web Forms, version 1.1.20.

Activated the plugin and went to the settings page. The page is blank except for an “Aweber Web Form requires authentication. You will need you to update your settings in order to continue to use AWeber Web Form.” error message.

The debug log shows the following error: “PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /mnt/vdb/srv/althealthworks/public_html/wp-content/plugins/aweber-web-form-widget/php/aweber_forms_import_admin.php on line 135”

    Wordpress 4.9.1.
Ultimatum Theme (same results with TwentyFifteen.)
PHP Version 7.0.26-2+ubuntu14.04.1+deb.sury.org+2 (Same results with PHP 5.6.)

  • Hi Ed,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Our team has found that this error can occur if you have short open tags disabled in your php.ini. If you are able to update the php.ini on your server, or if you have some other means of overriding the short_open_tag parameter, you can get the plugin working by setting short_open_tag to “On”.

A future release of the plugin will remove this issue. I don’t have an estimated release time, so I recommend pursuing the workaround above.

If you have any additional questions or if you require more specific assistance, please get in touch with us directly at [email protected]

    Have a great evening,
    Steve

    Editing php.ini fixed it.

Off topic: any plans to add the ability to place a signup form in a post/page via a short code?

Thanks for the quick response and have a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
    Ed
