• After upgrading my Synology NAS from DSM version 4 to 6.1, my WordPress development environment is not working correctly

I can not update WordPress, plugins or themes. I can not add plugins from the admin menu, only by ftp

Admin is running extremely slow, as it keeps running update.php which then fails with the below error.

The WordPress installation on the Synology NAS in re-done from scratch.

My Synology NAS is only used on my home network, and is not accessible from out-side.

I have enabled https on the webservice in Synology, so I access my local WordPress: https://192.168.0.106/wordpress

I have searched and searched google, without finding a solution.

For now, I have added return; in line one of upgrade.php, but this is just a workaround so I can use my development environment.

HELP, what can be wrong ??

    Error

  • Hey,

I may be wrong about this but I believe that in https mode the certificate your site presents to the update server must be a valid and trusted cert. Is your local https using a certificate that is self-signed? Maybe you remember if you granted an exception for in your browser?

Yes, it is a self signed certificate

To my knowledge, this is the only option I have, as you can’t access the NAS (or site) from the outside.

The site does not have to run https, as it is for internal development only

What do others do that uses localhost or local server sites for development ?
