Synchronize bbPress topics with WP categories?

Hi. This is a great forum plugin. I’d like to integrate bbPress forum topics with my WordPress categories. How can I do that?
(BTW, alternately, I’d like to use the bbpress-wordpress-synchronization plugin, but that seems to only work with stand-alone bbPress.)
Any hope?
