Sync taxonomies

I created a list of countries (taxonomies) with ACF and CPT UI.
For every post on my site, I can check the specific countries that it suits.
If I click the country name in the post, it will take me to a page with a list of posts that suits this specific country.
Then I installed Polylang and I wanted to translate the list of countries to French.
First, I assigned all the list of countries to English and then started to translate the countries’ names. However, I found that the French translation doesn’t sync with the English one.
In the documentation I found that I have to choose Settings >> Synchronization >> and then check Taxonomies, however, this doesn’t change anything and the French name of the countries won’t sync with the English one.
What am I doing wrong?
I couldn’t find a clear answer in the documentation or in the WordPress support forum.
I am using Elementor (pro), Polylang (free), and Polylang Connect for Elementor and ACF (free)
