    Hey Pippin,

I notice when I check the Symlink box it adds a long string of numbers and letters to the filename mp3 or zip folder.

I checked this box because I was getting the download timing out at almost precisely the same time (varying depending on the browser) for larger files on a slower internet connection (downloading at 150kbps), and this resolved the issue but it adds characters to the filename.

Also, if it is checked and I click on the link to download, it opens the browser player and begins to play, it doesn’t download (needs a ‘right’ click instead). At the moment in my email receipt I tell customers to ‘right’ click to download. It’s workable, but….

Wondering if there is another solution for larger downloads so it doesn’t add characters to the names?

Or, I could just leave symlink unchecked and deal with each customer individually if they happen to have a slow internet connection that won’t download in time.

I haven’t notified anyone of my store yet, still building, but I love your plugin so far!

The numbers/letters are intentional. It’s because of how symlinks work.

With symlinks, you can’t force them to open in the browser unless you modify your .htaccess file. Are you comfortable doing that?

    Thanks!
It looks like my options are to leave Symlink unchecked and hope most people have download rates of at least 250kbps, or I could leave it checked and wrap each mp3 in a zip to protect the filename. The unpacked folder name would have the additional characters, but not the file within!

As for it opening in a browser, that is what it does already if the Symlink is checked and the file clicked on to download is an mp3. A .zip will download normally. But this is not an issue if I make each file a .zip or leave Symlink unchecked.

    Thanks for the reply

    That will work fine.
