• I’ve just updated the theme. This produced an error message, saying it couldn’t remove the old theme. Now the theme is broken, and my site has applied the default theme instead.

Is there an easy way to get Sydney back up, without the risk of losing all the modifications etc. and having to reconfigure everything? I don’t want to go and just reinstall the theme if that means going back to square one.

Also, is there perhaps a bug in the latest theme, which is why the update failed?

  • It looks like there is permissions issue on the file system on your server. Please verify it with your hosting support department.

Thanks Kharis. I haven’t changed the permissions, and all other updates etc. go through fine, so that doesn’t seem entirely likely to me, but I will look into it.

Now as for the second part of my question, how can I get the theme applied again, without having to then make lots of edits and modifications? In other words, if I just apply Sydney now, will it pick up all the modifications I had made from some existing config file?

    Thanks
    Robaa

    Hello @robaa,

The settings you did through the site’s admin area while Sydney theme was active remains in the database system and will pick up automatically once Sydney theme is active again, except the modifications you did directly in the theme’s files.

    Hello @petergeo,

Please write your issue in detail in your own topic here. But before doing so, do search; there might be some topics already asked in the past.

    Hi Kharis,

I’ve just noticed in the Themes page of my admin panel that on the bottom of the page it says

    Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete.

    Name Description
    business-elite Stylesheet is missing. Delete
    sydney Stylesheet is missing. Delete

Can I just add the missing stylesheet(s) and make the theme work again? If so, where can I get the stylesheet from, and where do I need to put it?

    Thanks,
    Robaa

    Hello there,

Please FTP your site, then access wp-content > themes folder. And then delete the Sydney theme folder. Log into your site admin, then install and activate the Sydney theme.

    Regards,
    Kharis
